FORMATS


MIXED PAIR 4 ON 4 FORMAT

• Pairs are defined as one male and one female
• Registration & warmup opens 30 min prior to start
• Games are played 4 on 4
• Participants are divided into groups for pool play
• You always play with your same partner
• Your teamates will change for each match
• Scores will be added up (per pair) from all games played
• Playoff tiering is done after pool play based on total scores
• Playoffs are elimination format


BEST TEAM FORMAT

• Bring your best team (YOU PICK! 4, 5 or 6 players)
• 4’s teams play with North Beach Mixed 4’s Rules
• 5’s & 6’s teams play with North Beach Mixed 6’s Rules
• 4 & 5 player teams are minimum 1 female
• 6 player teams are minimum 2 female
• Registration & Warmup opens 30 min prior to start
• Roster must to finalized by registration (no subs permitted)
• Pool play is round robin format
• Playoffs are elimination format


MIXED 4’S FORMAT 

• Teams consist of 4 players (minimum 1 female)
• Maximum 5 players on roster (1 sub)
• Registration & warmup opens 30 min prior to start
• Pool play is round robin format
• Playoffs are elimination format
• Teams with deposits/full payments have priority registration


MIXED 6’S FORMAT

• Teams consist of 6 players (minimum 2 females)
• Maximum 7 players on roster (1 sub)
• Registration & Warmup opens 30 min prior to start
• Pool play is round robin format
• Playoffs are elimination format
• Teams with deposits/full payments have priority registration


2 DAY COURT & BEACH COMBO

Points are awarded by overall standings for each day
Combined points over both days will dictate overall tournament placement
Registration & warmup opens 30 min prior to start

DAY 1: MIXED 6’S HARD COURT

LOCATION: TBD
• Teams consist of 6 players (minimum 2 females)
• Maximum 7 players on roster (1 sub)
• OVA indoor rules
• Pool play is round robin format
• Playoffs are elimination format

DAY 2: MIXED 4’S BEACH

AT NORTH BEACH VOLLEYBALL
• Teams consist of 4 players (minimum 1 female)
• Maximum 7 players on roster (3 subs)
• North Beach house rules
• Pool play is round robin format
• Playoffs are elimination format

  • POLICIES

    • Teams with deposits/full payments have priority at registration
    • Full payment must be made prior to event start
    • 48 hours notice must be given for any teams requiring to withdraw
    • Credit notes will be given, sorry no refunds available
    • Registation and warm up opens 30 mins prior to start time

    BOUNDRIES

    • All boundaries, meshing around court, roofs, poles, etc., are out of bounds
    • Ball is in if it makes any contact with the boundary lines.
    • 3 hits allowed per side, block does not count as a hit
    • Both teams are responsible for ensuring that the boundary lines are straight.
    • Players are allowed to cross under the net as long as they do not interfere with the opposing players
    • A serve that catches the top of the net and continues over to the opponents side is allowed providing it is within boundary lines
    • When the ball is traveling over any net, fixed with two antennae, it must cross between the antennae without contact
    • Any net contact at all will result in a side out for the opposing team
    • If the net is pushed into you it is not a net violation on you
    • You may serve anywhere along the back line within the sidelines

    CONDUCT

    Any player who participates in a reckless manor runs the risk of suspension from game by North Beach staff if the staff believe they could cause injury to themselves or someone else, one warning may or may not be given

    DURING PLAY

    • No INTENTIONAL service screening
    • Absolutely no receiving balls with a volley unless hard driven
    • No volleying over the net, this will result in a side-out for the opposing team
    • Serves cannot be received with two hands that are not connected
    • Open handed digs and double-hits ARE LEGAL only when receiving a HARD DRIVEN ball
    • A hard driven ball is classified as a ball hit with a full swing with very little arc
    • NO VOLLEYING ROLL SHOTS, a roll shot is ANY hit that is not a hard driven ball
    • Roll shots must be received with a poke or two connected hands
    • When serving, any contact between server and the back court line is NOT ALLOWED and results in a side-out for the opposing team, this is called a “foot fault”
    • No spiking, blocking, or volleying a serve
    • Ball may be hit with any part of the body
    • Players must maintain service rotation, but players do not have to rotate position
    • Players are allowed 2 tosses of the ball to serve as long as there is no contact on the first attempt

    SPIN (HANDS) CALLS DIFFER BY TOURNAMENT, CALLS WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH EVENT.
